Changelog
The update to v3.1.0 represents a major structural overhaul, splitting the configuration system for better management, introducing visual enhancements like Bubble Chat and Atlas Icons, and significantly upgrading inventory interactivity with Book Reading capabilities and Ender Chest support.
New Features
-
Target-Only Mentions (
onlyTarget): -
A new privacy option
onlyTargethas been added to mention rules. -
Function: When enabled, the chat message is visible ONLY to the mentioned target(s).
-
Important: The sender will NOT see their own message unless they are included in the target group. This effectively allows for "blind" reports or alerts (e.g.,
@adminsends a report visible only to admins, disappearing from the sender's chat). -
Bubble Chat Integration: A new style type
BUBBLEhas been added. Messages can now be displayed as a floating TextDisplay entity above the player's head, creating a speech bubble effect. -
Implementation: Utilizes Minecraft's
TextDisplayentity for smooth, modern visuals. -
Atlas Icon Presets: You can now easily insert vanilla textures or custom icons into chat using the
ATLAS_PRESETstyle. -
Example:
:fire:,:heart:defined in the config can render actual game textures. -
Message Blocking: A new
BLOCKstyle type allows you to completely prevent specific messages from being sent based on regex patterns. -
Ender Chest Display (
[end]): Expanded the sharing capabilities to include Ender Chests. -
Tag:
[end]orSHOW_ENDER_CHESTaction.
Enhanced Interactivity & Inventory
-
Interactive Item Display (
[i]): The item display feature has evolved. Clicking the[i]tag in chat now opens a GUI window showing the item, rather than just a tooltip. -
Readable Written Books: Significant improvements to the shared inventory view (
/ec openor clicking chat tags). -
Click to Read: If a Written Book is inside the shared inventory view, clicking it will now open the book's content for you to read directly.
-
Expanded Command Targeting: The
/ec opencommand logic has been improved. -
Previously: Only accepted UUIDs.
-
Now: Supports both Player Names and UUIDs for easier access.
Configuration & System Changes
-
Configuration Overhaul: The configuration system has been completely restructured for modularity.
-
config.json: General settings. -
styles.json: Chat formatting and regex rules. -
mentions.json: Mention triggers and sound settings. -
:warning: Breaking Change: The single
embellish-chat.jsonfile is no longer used. You must migrate your settings to the new three-file structure. -
Async I/O Optimization: Critical operations like saving configurations (
notification,ban/pardon) now run asynchronously. This prevents server thread freezing during file write operations.
Changes & Removals
- Dependency Update: Explicit support for
PlaceholderAPIhas been added to ensure stable placeholder parsing. - Removed Integration: Support for the Open Parties and Claims mod (specifically party mentions) has been discontinued and removed from the codebase.
